Originally from New Jersey, Maria now lives in Berkeley, California with her cat Cosmo.
Maria moved to California to become the public safety reporter at the Napa Valley Register covering crime, courts and breaking news. She also covered mental health, the LGBTQ community, and housing.
Maria worked for five years local journalism before returning to school for her master's degree. She will be graduating from UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism in May 2020.
In June, Maria will join The Desert Sun in Palm Springs as a Report for America corps member covering seniors and issues facing the elderly.
